This seminar is right for you if:

You are looking for ways to meet exercise guidelines around work and other commitments, or just ways to have a healthier work/life balance.

The aim of this seminar is to increase knowledge on what exercise guidelines are, as well as ways to help meet them around a busy schedule!  We’ll also touch on other aspects of wellness to keep in balance.

Dr Jena Buchan has worked in the health industry for over 10 years.  This has included work as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, personal trainer, yoga instructor and fitness instructor.  As a lecturer at Griffith, she appreciates the challenges of balancing work and life demands with keeping a healthy lifestyle, and aims to help her students and colleagues find ways to keep a wellness balance (not just through yoga poses!).

Jena, Erin Barret (EP from Griffith Health Clinics), myself and some undergrad sport science students will be running a stall on the day, aimed at both staff and students, this will include the following:

  • Promotion of the profession
  • Promotion of Griffith Allied Health Clinics
  • Promotion of the staff wellbeing programs and initiatives
  • Office stretches – handout (developed by Jena Buchan)
  • Office exercise – handout with exercise band (developed by Erin Barrett)
  • Coffee Map which will detail alternate, longer routs to take to get your daily caffeine fix (developed by Jen Buchan)
  • Ex is medicine and Ex right for your occupation information and handouts
  • Ability for staff to approach an EP and discuss improving their physical activity.
